Tehrathum Fire Relief Fundraising Program Namaste! welcome to nepalschool.org. Here you will find information on the Basantapur project for a new school, get news about Nepal, and contribute to a good cause. In year 2000, I lived and taught English and Science in a remote town in Eastern Nepal. After understanding first hand the need for a more adequate learning environment, including a safer building, lighting and toilet facilities, I initiated the project to build a new school. With the generosity from the donors, I successfully raised the funds and launched the project. In addition, we are very fortunate to have the invaluable advice and support from the American Himalayan Foundation. The new school is completed in the summer of 2002. Children are now learning in a drastically improved environment. In the future, we will explore ways to improve other aspects of the new school, including curriculums, books, volunteering and scholarship programs.
